LINX Port Services’ skills support winds of change
The influx of large-scale green energy projects in development across Australis is providing plenty of opportunities and challenges for stevedores.
At the Port of Brisbane, our LINX Port Services team is supporting Blue Water Shipping on some complex heavy lifting work that demands precision, discharging hundreds of Nordex’s latest Delta 4000-N163/5.7 wind turbines headed to the MacIntyre Wind Farm in southeast Queensland.
Each of these blades weigh in at 30 tonne and are stacked high, requiring dual lifts. Due to their weight and extensive span (81.5 metres), each blade can take our team of skilled operators up to an hour to safely lift.
Situated 50 kilometres south-west of Warwick and 10 kilometres south of Karara in Queensland, the mega windfarm is being developed by ACCIONA Energía in partnership with CleanCo, the Queensland Government’s newest renewable energy generator, and is expected to begin operations in 2024.
