Sustainable partnership for renewable energy growth in Victoria
Our LINX business is part of an exciting, sustainable supply chain at Lascelles Wharf, Geelong, where our people are stevedoring the arrival of wind turbines going to the Moorabool Windfarm (the Windfarm) in Victoria.
For four months, we’ve safely managed the port side operations part of the $370M renewable energy project and are the critical link for our customer, Bollore Logistics, in its logistics network from the ship to the Windfarm.
We’re providing reliable cargo unloading and container handling services to enable the Windfarm to receive the wind turbines in the same, new condition in which they were shipped. Reducing the opportunity for cargo damage, helps Bollore Logistics uphold its contract obligations and gives them peace of mind that on the wharf, we have their back.
The Moorabool Windfarm is located approximately four kilometres south of Ballan in Victoria and is being developed in two stages. Upon completion, the Windfarm will boast 107 wind turbines which will altogether generate 321 megawatts in renewable energy to power an average of 200,000 Victorian homes each year.
LINX Operations Manager, Andrew Hill, believes it’s rewarding for LINX to be involved in a project like the Moorabool Windfarm which develops sustainable energy sources in Australia.
“Our stevedores are well versed in handling wind turbines therefore we’re able to offer Bollore Logistics problem solving and solutions-based operations,” said Andrew.
“With the growth in the renewable energy industry, our experience in this area positions us well to secure future contracts with companies like Bollore Logistics.”
Bollore Manager – National Projects, Mark Norman, has acknowledged our Lascelles Wharf team for its cooperation and support.
“The stevedore supervisors are unfailingly helpful, patient and innovative,” said Mark.
“The entire team of stevedores are professional, enthusiastic and willing, often in challenging circumstances. We look forward to working with LINX for the remainder of the project.”
Andrew adds that his team enjoys working flexibly and safely with Bollore Logistics, carefully treating the customer’s turbines like they were their own.
This is the first time we’ve worked with Bollore Logistics and we’re proud to have established a valuable relationship with the company through the Moorabool Windfarm project,” said Andrew.
